Christine Flowers - Violin

Christine Flowers was born in Rochester, New York and started studying violin at the age of five.  She pursued her studies in London, Tel Aviv and Dallas, and graduated with a Classical Performance Degree from Indiana University.  She has played with symphonies such as Indianapolis Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra and Louisville Symphony.  She began touring with world renown artists such as Julie Andrews, Robert Goulet, Dionne Warwick and Andy Williams.  She has been Andy Williams solo violinist for the past 10 years in Branson, Mo.  She is featured on several albums of Mr. Williams as well as PBS Specials.  Ms. Flowers now freelances in lives in Laguna Niguel, CA with her two daughters.  Her versatility allows her to play a diverse repertoire, from symphonic music to film scores, and from blues to rock.  She has been teaching violin for the past ten years.   She also plays in a popular local Irish band.

Rachel Kone - Violin

Rachael Kone is currently a violin performance major at the University of California, Irvine.  She studies with the world renowned Harotune Bedalian and has studied previously with such great musicians as Peter Marsh, Mischa Lefkowitz, and Rene Bregozzo.

Rachael was born into a musical family.  Her mother, the pianist of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, and father, owner of Kone Sound Studios and a trained opera singer and guitarist, both pushed Rachael to begin her studies at the age of three and exposed her to a tremendous array of music, ranging from Jazz, Country, Rock, Classic Rock and of course all periods of Classical music.   As well as her early violin education, at 5 yrs old Rachael would also have been found singing in the garden or tinkering on the piano (so as not to be left out of her mothers student recitals) and continued education in these alternate skills through High school, performing in Carnegie Hall, New York with her Junior High Madrigal Choir and at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii with the Newport Harbor High School Advanced Choir.  As a part of Rachael’s exposure she was a member of youth orchestra groups, such as La Primavera in Irvine, by the age of 10 and was awarded the position of Concert Master in 1996 and 2002.

She can now be seen performing with the University of California, Irvine Orchestra, under conductor Stephen Tucker, in the chamber group The OC Trio, and performing with her mother, Sandra Matthews-Kone, in venues throughout Orange County.  Kone has been very fortunate to continue her education abroad at such summer festivals as The Schlern International Music Festival-Italy, Yfrah Neaman's Summer Course, Suffix, England, Stamford Music Festival, England and The Fairbanks Arts Festival, Alaska.  Along side her strong classical training,

Rachael also grew up learning the ropes of her father’s recording studio and is now an engineer, producer, and studio musician.  When Rachael received her first jazz album, Natalie Cole “Unforgettable”, in Christmas of 1994, singing jazz became a passion, so in 1999 she expanded her horizons to improvising on the violin, including electric violin.  This is when she discovered her love for the freedom and expression of improvisation.   Since then, Kone has studied Jazz through improvisation classes at Orange Coast College, a Django Fest violin workshop in 2004, and at UCI with Bassist Derek Oles and trumpeter Bobby Rodriguez.   She has recorded with bands and groups of many genres: rock, pop, jazz and country and has been seen performing with the rock band, Ten West, the Latin Jazz Band, and acoustic alternative rock band Standard Tint.

While she now leads a wonderfully busy life performing, finishing her degree in music at UCI, and working as a studio violinist and engineer-producer at Kone Sound Studios, Kone finds a new love for passing on the tradition of classical music and her knowledge of violin music making, by teaching young and eager pupils privately and at the Laguna Beach School of music. -2008
